Just curious, I presently still drive a 2004 Ford Ranger, and most likely will be trading come next year. I'm leaning with the Frontier, but the new Tacoma looks like a nice truck as well. Having not driven either of them as yet for a comparison, I was wondering if some of you guys have and what do you feel is the best features of both?

..

turkster8;

... Toyotas resale value in the past has been better and mod parts are easier to get. I believe the Frontier resale will catch up now that we have a powerful engine.

... On the other hand you pay more and get less for the dollar buying a Toyota. My ‘99 SE 4x4 came standard with things that were not even an option on the Taco 4x4 and I paid $1,200 less. I’ve driven a lot of Tacos and they do have some good points but I’m happy with what I have and it was not only about money! My Frontier rides a lot better and is much less noisy inside.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

There was a time when some people got rich buy providing a better product at a lower price. Now they get rich by ripping us off and paying off the politicians. Can you spell DEREGULATION

I researched both, very similar vehicles.  Here is a quick list to help you out, check these out for your comparisons:

Fronty:

Pros:

Quiet interier

Solid steering

metal bed with liner

metal track system

initial price/options

Cons:

Dealership near you?

Aftermarket parts?

Taco

Pros:

Aftermarket parts

lots of dealers

huge fan base

Cons:

Seats too low - car like

composite bed

plastic track system

Other than that, I think it is just whatever moves you.

I too looked at the Taco when I was shopping.  What I found was this:

Taco was waay more money for less equipment, we're talking 5k more for a truck with less options.

Taco has a plastic bed, umm, in a truck, no thanks.

Taco had very uncomfortable seats (IMHO)

Interior on the Taco was meh

Taco didn't feel nearly as nimble/quick/fast.

Taco just didn't feel like a truck, I mean, that is what you are buying.

Fit and finish was about on par, but the Fronty just impressed me more.

Now, I will give the Taco one thing...their oil filter is in a killer spot!  Pop the hood, and it's right there on top!!  But, I think I'll stick with my Fronty.  Not nearly as common around here as the Taco, plus I got mine in the best color that's no longer available...Electric Blue!!

On the Tacoma site they are posting quite a few problems with the newer trucks.

Who needs any problems especially with a new truck!! Look's like it will be the frontier!!
