The cabin filter shown is for 05 and later. You are correct, yours goes in vertically. If you get a genuine Nissan filter it should come with specific instructions for your truck.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">

I bought some aftermarket filters, that come with instructions but it assumes that space is open.  Looks like it just needs cutting out but have not found specific details

I won't be replaceing mine until there is an air flow problem or it starts to smell.

The dirty conditions I drive in, that may only be a few months.

Thanks for the information; big help! I've noticed that my
heater doesn't seem to be putting out like before (83K
miles) and didn't want to pay the local dealer $120+ just
to change out the filters so I really do appreciate it.

My truck is still pretty new but I did take the filters out to vacuum them after a recent desert trip.  From the factory there was one installed with the arrow up the other with the arrow down.

I'll vote for arrows down because when I removed them the dirt was all on the top.  Air flow must be from the top down so the arrows need to point down.

I broke the tab too, poor design.

I'll pass on a little trick I learned from another Frontier site.  The left side of my glove box was very hard to get out and I was afraid I might break it.  Just take a look where the pin hits and cut off little bit of it, then it will come out as easily as the other side.

I have a 2012 Frontier when I went to change the cabin air filter there was no filters in there. Now since the dealer is the only place that I use to do all my service work. Everytime they tell me I need to change the cabin air filters. I contacted the service manager and was told on some new cars or trucks that the cabin air filter is an option. Now my question is has anyone else heard of this.

..

Welcome to the group!!

I have no idea.

But the funny thing is I have never changed one, if
there is one, in my 1999 Frontier. I would bet it does
have one but cause it is the top of the line model.

Have a good one.. Don S..
