Hi what would cause the a/c compressor to stay on. When I drive for more then an hour the main refrigerant line going to the evaporator freezes and then the evaporator stops working cause it to freezes. Why doesn't the a/c clutch stop when its supposed to?

A stuck relay, bad switch in the dash, or a crossed wire.  I would pull the relay (should be under the hood in one of the power boxes).  It will more than likely shut off, but swap with another relay to check to see if that is the case.
