does anyone else kinda feel like we got screwed  on the engine on the 3.3L...not that it's a horrible engine but we all know it's not the most gas friendly and even tho it will move the fronty well enough stock, the  3.5 on the pathfinder of the same year has 240 HP and 260 ft/lbs and gets similar mileage i believe,  lol wonder if a swap could be done relatively easily?  another random thought from this fronty owner lol......

Throw some bigger tires on there for awhile, then go back to stock, and that feeling will go away

I remember when the Fronty was introduced and all they offered was the 4 banger, I was told by the nissan dealer that they(Nissan N.A.) were having troubles developing a 6 cyl. that would fit into the engine compartment of the Fronty. The Pathfinder was introduced in '96 with a 3.0 so, if what the dealer told me is true and the Pathie was out 2 years before the Frontier I would figure that it would not bolt right in, and the Harness would be a be-yoch to change or even make work. Also even though the first generation Pathie and Hardbodies were based off the same frame, the Second Generation Pathie's and the Frontier are NOT the same. The Pathie is a Uni-body and the Frontier is Body-on-Frame. The Pathie is also is larger then the Frontier. The sister car to the Frontier is now the XTerra.

The Harbody had a V6 option, very rare though.  But the engine bay is actually bigger on the Frontier than the Hardbody.  Nissan was just lazy at the time.

All I know is what I was told as the reason Nissan did not have a V6 since '95.

Happy Turkey day to all.

I hate it when dealers try coming up with excuses.  Cause the underhood area did not change from 89-97.  I think Nissan just felt they weren't getting as much demand for the V6... or found they could possibly save money offering only the KA24E motor.

Realize, 1994 is the year that Nissan and Renault joined together.  A lot of stuff changed for the model year 95.

the pathfinder is larger than the frontier? i don't know when i look at 2000-2002 model pathfinders and frontiers...i certainly wouldn't say that it is bigger than the frontier, in any right, maybe that's just me but it does't look bigger, and the front engine compartment couldn't be that muchdifferent in overall size. aren't they based on same general truck frame, my biggest question is would it be possible to take one of the 01-02 pathfinder 3.5's and drop it in, and have tranny gear be able to be used or would that need to be swapped as well? this is referring to a 2wd..not the 4wd model. just a thought, keep in mind i'm not a mechanic, so i may be forgetting some things, although i'm continuing to learn about mechanical repair as i do things to my own vehicle.
