rollon, my truck is a short bed and I tow with OD off. You should always tow with OD off, even if towing a smaller trailer, because it reduces wear on your powertrain and keeps your RPMs in the optimal range. You'll find that your fuel economy isn't affected much at all. It's actually not that easy to tow with OD on anyway, and you'll see what I mean the first time you forget to hit the OD button to turn it off before you tow your travel trailer. The motor will rev quite a bit higher than normal and will be reluctant to upshift on acceleration.

Got 12 MPG with OD on (disappointed) ! 13.6 MPG with OD off (good) ! With OD off on flat land running 60 MPH my RPM's are less than 2000 ! What a truck !! Happy Camping!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the Way,the other campers with the big rigs will not go to the mountains !
