What do you mean by not shifting into passing gear? To me, that means it won't down shift when you want to pass someone or accelerate. Do you mean it does not up shift while racing??? That is all ecu and tcu controlled along with your right foot. Are you using hi-test fuel???  P.S, the engine doesn't shift-the trans does.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">

It could be your knock sensor not knowing your trying to
get on it. Or your TPS might be bad

it was my TPS you need a new one and get it SCANNED by a mechanic. Dont go to the dealership go to a family ran mechanic shop they take better care of you. $88 tps and 100 install and scanned that with new plugs and installed. Dealership is like $800 or some BS

What do you mean by it will not kick out of passing gear, all you have to do is take your foot off the gas, right?

What RPM and speedo numbers are you showing when this happens?

It will not go into the next gear foot on foot off.
Engine keeps reeving up to 4,000 close to 5,000. Been
driving 58 years the truck or any car should gear up to
be able to pass. Maybe not wording this correct as the
first person also seems not to be but it should not be
hard to understand. You go to pass you press down on the
excelerator and it sticks in that gear will not gear up.
Had this happen also at a stop sign went to go around and
it stuck in that and keep reeving up.

I have tried to press it to the floor, do it half way
only, back off, take foot off it just keeps reeving at
that gear.

It sound like the problem is that the transmission is not upshifting during hard acceleration from a dead stop, nor is it downshifting when going at 40 mph and then accelerating hard to pass someone, correct?
