A simple drain is only about 4 quarts But could possibly Cause a problem. A magnetic heater put under the tranny pan (if it's steel) would help. Also check the flow from the radiator of the tranny cooling lines. The fluid needs to be 100 or more degress to shift properly. I think I'd gamble with a simple drain and refill. Measure the drain and put the same amount back in. In some brands of trannies dirty filters can cause that kind of problem but your filter is only a wire screen that can be washed.
