Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing an idle shutter on their 4.0. I wouldn't call it a rough idle but a shuttering of the motor that will vibrate through the cabin. It will happen after the truck is at operating temp in drive and park.
The dealer said everything is running at 100%. Gave me some bs about the air conditioner compressor turning on and off when the window defroster is on. I told him I know how the compressor works with the defroster then he quickly changed his tune said that the truck needs to be driven longer since i only have 800 miles on it or it could be electronics drawing on the motor....i don't buy it.....should i give it time it's just so annoying. Our Mazda3 2.0 motor is so smooth can hardly tell it's running.

any thoughts would be appreciated

Give it some time. Might want to tighten the grounds on the
drivers side timing chain cover. Idle air volume learn
procedure may need to be done.

I have the same problem with my 2011 Nissan Frontier 4.0.  The engine Idle runs rough and the Tac needle drops just a hair every once in a while if you watch it long enough. You absolutely notice this phenomenon if you drive my truck!  This problem occurs when the vehicle is in park or if I am just sitting at a stop light.  I have been to the dealer and repair shops five times, and have left my truck there each time for minimum of at least a week plus. In total I think its been in the shop for a couple months when you add it all up. I get the same story. Belts are to tight, AC compressor blah blah blah. I have had my motor mounts replaced three times, and my truck only has 16,000 miles on it. If it the belts or AC, why then don't you fix it you dumb face mechanics!?! LOL!.... OK I'm done crying... On a serious note, I will continue to take it to the dealer, and work this problem out. I will keep you updated, and when I find out what it is I will let you know.

I too noticed an idling issue... when sitting at long stoplights I can feel the AC compressor cycling, and there is a slight rattling sound, yet when looking at the tach, it does not move one bit, tells me that the idle up solenoid ( if that's what it is called) is doing its job.

At this point I'd start looking at possible Lemon Law
return.

Howdy...

Try, when shuddering is noticeable, putting the truck in “park’ then looking under the hood. Watch and listen to the A/C compressor clutch to see if it synchronized with the shuddering of the engine. I’ve only been dealing with automotive A/C units since 1952. A/C units require much more than ten horse power and cause the work load of the engine to change as the unit turns on and off. The shudder is noticeable unless the throttle computer programming is very precise. More break-in time for the new engine could ease the shudder a little but not a lot.

Reprogramming of a ‘99 V-8 Grand Cherokee we had fixed a similar problem when it was new.

Have a good one.. Don S.

Go to the dealer and try a couple of other trucks and see
if they do it. As mentioned before, see if the dealer
will clear the self learn control and perform an idle air
volume learn procedure. Mine has done it since new, now
has 42K, I guess I don't have prolonged periods of
idling,so it doesn't bother me.

I just bought my Frontier in this january, I notices the same shutter,
vibrating through the cabin. My is really loud, the dealer said all 2012
Frontiers are making the same BUZZ/Vibrating/SHUTTER NOISE. I
don't buy it, any one has a solution yet?

Thanks, this is my 1st post.

My 2012 does the same thing. Does seem to get better the more I drive it. Just turned over 400 miles. Also I am not running the AC and it is doing this. My buzz is not bad but is most definitely there. Could this be a fuel octane issue? Or crappy fuel?

Hey Lakota, you must be like 100 years old if you have been
doing A/C work since'52!!!!! When my A/C kicks on
the idle speed is increased accordingly by the ECU and IAC.
