Anyone have issues with rear axle seals leaking gear oil ? I have a 2012 Frontier Pro 4 X , with about 90,000 kms (Canada ) or about 60,000 miles. Just noticed it today.

If it is under 60K, they are covered under powertrain
warranty. Check your vent to see if it is plugged with
rust. The best remedy is to replace vent with a nipple,
hose and remote (plastic GM style vent) attached to the
frame.

I wonder why Nissan doesn't mention to check and clean the Axle Vent's. I had a '93 Hardbody, and now have a '13 Frontier, but I haven't ever seen it mentioned in the Maintenance Schedule.

Since the Vent Stopped up on my Tractor, I've known to do it since about 2005, but other wise,, unless I had read about the vent online,, I probably wouldn't have thought to check and clean the Vent.

It's Easy to do, but wonder why it's not mentioned in the Maintenance Schedule.
