Yo, I'm SnakeBit and that's about how I feel right now.
For those who don't know the meaning of the term. Snake
Bit means you are very unlucky sometimes. Guess that's
because I was born on the 13th.

Anyway, it's not a REAL complaint. Life hands EVERYONE a
lot of curves and you just deal with them. You can look
at something as a problem or an opportunity to learn.

Right now, things are only bad with my truck. A 2000 XE
King Cab that has seen better days. I was going to get a
another used Frontier, but the prices are getting
ridiculous.

So, before I act, I decided to see what the costs of
repairing this one are. I can do some of this myself and
can determine those costs. But, there's repairs I can't
do.

I went online and got some repair calculators. It seemed
that the prices look skewed high and they all link to
mechanics. Seems like all the calculators I found are
just really advertisements.

I don't want to bog you guys down with questions on the
repairs I can do myself. I'll just read the forums for
advice instead. But, for the work I can't do myself, can
anyone recommend a site that would give me a good idea on
those costs.

I might just keep it running till I can get a good deal
someplace. But since the engine, drive train and
transmission are find, I might redo the whole thing from
the ground up. Right now, I got to get the most important
things done ASAP.

Better tell you what needs to be done in brief. Front
brake complete rebuild, New radiator and system check
(It's cracking on the top}, Charging system needs
diagnosis (Already has new battery}. New Windshield.

Any help would be appreciated.

Real Sorry for the long post.

SnakeBit but Still Very Much Alive

Hey SB,

Sound's like you are on a Restricted Budget, which about discribe's my whole life.

I think that I'd go to Firestone and get an estimate on the stuff that they can do.  They might be able to do it all, but if they can't,, they probably can refer you to somebody that can.

It's True, that Used Truck Price's are High.  Just heard that there are more Truck's being Sold than Car's now.

If you can swing it,, I think that it might be better to just get a New S Model Frontier, Basic Model.  If you'll keep it for a long time,, that's probably the best thing to do, if you can afford the payment's.  If you take real good care of the New Truck,, You'll be way ahead in 10 to 20 year's, when you decide to get another one.

Good Luck
