So I know the frontier has a lot of problems with the dash. Mine isn't the
typical 99999 on the odometer and the spur attic working. Rarely my
temp, fuel and odometer will work. My speedo and rpm don't work ever.
I bought a hud that plugs In to the obd 2. It will always display my rpm
an rarely my speed. I have noticed that it will display the speed when
my temp, fuel and odometer work. When they go out they don't work at
all. I know it's not the vss or the fuse that gives the dash power. I think
it's a bad ground but have no idea where to look. Anyone have any
ideas where to look or have had the same proble,m before?

..

I have the same dash in my '99 but no problems.

My guess is a ground but perhaps not in the dash.
It could have to do with the sensors.
You might try re plugging all the plug-ins you can find. I had Chevy that nearly drove me nuts for six months til I found a hidden plug with a lightly corroded contact.

Good luck with it.. Don S..

So I did what you said and none of the plugs were corroded but a couple were dirty so I cleaned them. one ground wire was touching some metal where it shouldn't be so I taped it up. another ground was covered in gunk so I cleaned it off. then a wire bundle that's all wrapped up was slit open so I taped it up. my dash now wont come on unless I smack the top of my dash which is an improvement. so I now think there is a short behind the dash I am going to try and find. I might bring it to a friend who has a mechanic shop to have him look. thanks for your help.
