I'm working on an 04 4wdFrontier that has the ABS lights on. I
searched on line to draw codes the blink line method and find a couple
different way and nothing has worked. Grounding #8 pin of ALDL
connecter and that blew the instrument panel fuse. Jumping #4 & #8
and nothing. Tried grounding #9 and nothing happened. Is there a for
sure way to do a blink code method?

..

Does the brake fluid look clean?
Has the system ever been bled?

Just shooting in the dark here...

Have you tried smacking on the brakes on a gravel road and listened to the rattling sound of the ABS electric motor working.

Good luck.. Don S..

I'll start from the beginning. Brake front pad wear indicators were
scraping so I removed master cylinder cap. Pressed caliper pistons
back one side at a time and replaced the pads. Checked master
cylinder fluid level and was full. On test drive and on moderate brake
application I noticed a chatter and could feel it in the pedal.. There was
no ABS light on at that time. After a couple of days of driving the light
would come on intermittently. When the light was on I had no chatter or
pedal pulse. When the light was off it would do it. Used a generic
scanner and it would read "no code definition". Removed ABS fuses at
under hood fuse center and no problems and of course doing that the
ABS light stays on due to disabling the system. Bled system just for the
heck of it. Never had a problem until after replacing front pads.

from the time I bought mine new the ABS light would come
on occasionally, the dealership said that unless it was
on when I brought it in they could do nothing. It seems
to do it more in the cold. 160000 miles later and it's
still the same. If it turn off the ignition and restart
the truck it works fine....gremlins
