A big welcome to me; I'm new! :-)

We're the proud owners of a slightly used 2018 Frontier. I'm somewhat
confused by the behaviour of the heating system whenever I press the "Auto"
button to turn it on. To wit: the "AC" button ALWAYS comes on. If the heat was
previously set at 23 say (I'm Canadian, and that's moderately warm), the
system will reinstate the previous temperature as expected, but it also turns on
the A/C whether or not I had it previously on. This is annoying as I don't want it
to come on unless I explicitly push the A/C button.

I see there's a section on page 4-30 of my manual called "Heating: A/C Off"
that seems to be saying there's a way of turning A/C off altogether (so it
presumably doesn't come back on every time you press "Auto" when starting
out), but I can't understand it: the way you're supposed to turn it off
permanently seems pretty much the same as described in the preceding
section which is describing how to turn it on permanently! Color me confused!
TIA,
Howard

whenever you use "AUTO", the comp is on, if you use
manual, it is not on.
