Hey Guy's,

It's about time for a New Battery in my '13 V6
Frontier. I went with an AGM from PepBoy's this time,
they had a 25% discount and free delivery.

So I was catching up on the correct procedure for
replaceing the battery. It didn't offer anything in the
Owner's Manual and after reading the Service Manual,,
it mentioned 3 Reset's ie Idle Learning, Engine
Controller, & Brake Controller. It's just not like it
used to be in the Old Day's; Take the old battery out,
and put the new battery in; We'ver got to keep the
Electric Circuit's Energized so that the Computer
doesn't loose it's Memory.

Here's one that I'm considering for Memory Saver:

https://www.amazon.com/Z-Red-MS4000-Automotive-
Charger/dp/B0021UP5KW/ref=sr_1_7?
keywords=obdii+memory+saver&qid=1576738300&sr=8-7

Here's another Type that use's another battery:

Amazon.com: ARTECKIN Alligator clamp 12V OBDII Car
Battery Cigarette Lighter Extension Cable for Memory
Saver Booster Jumper Starter Power Supply Cable:
Automotive
Amazon.com: ARTECKIN Alligator clamp 12V OBDII Car
Battery Cigarette Lighter Extension Cable for Memory
Saver Booster Jumper Starter Power Supply Cable:

www.amazon.com

And here's another that uses AC or 9 Volt Battery:

Amazon.com: OBD Connector Memory Saver AC/9v for
Vehicle Battery Replacement/Disconnect Short/Long Term
Memory Storage: Automotive
Buy OBD Connector Memory Saver AC/9v for Vehicle
Battery Replacement/Disconnect Short/Long Term Memory
Storage: Automotive - Amazon.com ✓ FREE DELIVERY
possible on eligible purchases
www.amazon.com

So what have you been useing and/or what do you
recommend?
I guess the one that uses another Battery with the
Aligator clip's seems like the Cheapest and maybe a
safe way to get it done.

I like the EZ Red,, but that thing is expensive. I also
like the one that uses the AC or 9v Battery, but useing
a 9v Battery I'm not too comfortable with and useing
the AC converter, seems good, but if the Power
Flicker's during Battery Change Out then the Memorie's
will be wiped out.

So I'd like to know what you all suggest and if you've
Tried one that you like the best.

Thanks,

..

Barney...

I use a little 9 volt battery connected to the power outlet.

The batteries in our Camry and Frontier are the best that WalMarts brand had at the time. Both are over four and a half years old. Our JD-130 lawn tractor battery is three years old and will not hold a charge for three weeks.

I don't know who has the best batteries at this time ... yet.

I better start looking.. Don S..

Have a good one.

Hey Don,

Thank You for shareing how you do your Battery
Replacement in your Camry and Frontier.

I'm glad that the 9v Battery worked good for you. This
is all new to me. I've changed my Batterie's out since
long long ago,, but all this Computer Controller Stuff
is New to me in My Vehicle's, so I'm trying to get up
to speed, and do it right from the getgo.

I was leaning on either getting just the obdII cable
with the aligator clip's to use on either my
Lawntractor Battery or my Compact Utility Tractor or
the E-Z Red MS4000 which has a Sealed Ni-cd Flooded
cell battery and a charger in the unit to recharge the
Ni-cd battery for energizeing the Electrical Computer
Module's.

I called EZ Red earlier today and the Fellow made me an
offer I couldn't refuse; 55 $'s with Free Shipping. I
probably went a little overboard,, the the Ni-cd
battery inside the MS4000 is replaceable, so that I
should be able to use it for a long time. After I get
the new Battery installed I need to open up the unit
and see if there is a way for me to put Grease on the
Battery Terminal's to prevent corosion.

I got my New AGM Battery from PepBoy's and they've got
a 25% Discount going on right now through December.
Since I got an AGM they sent mine by FEDX and was Free
Shipping.

Over 4 year's ago, I get an AGM battery for the Lawn
Tractor and I can tell that it is getting weaker, but
that is about twice longer than I've been able to get
out of previous Batterie's for it. The original size
battery is a 12n14 3A that crossed to a YTX14AHL-BS AGM
High Performance Battery that I got either on EBay or
Amazon (Can't remember Which) for 40 $'s and Free
Shipping! The brand is Adventure Power - power Sport
Batteries. I don't know if the same seller's are
selling on Amazon or EBay now or not.

I guess I just lucked out cause I didn't know anything
about that Brand,, Only that it was an AGM and that's
what I wanted; Especially for 40 $'s and Free
Shipping!

I've read some say they've changed out their Frontier
Batterie's without doing anything to energize the
Electrical System, and I've read many post's and
Watched Video's of those that have used some type of
Memory Saver to keep the system energized when
replaceing the battery.

I hope I'm going about this in the Right way to prevent
problem's with the different Computer Module's. I sure
hope I don't look back and say, I'd have been better
off just changeing out the Battery and not doing
anything for Saving the Memory.

Thanks for trying to help me,
Much Appreciated,

Don,

I just checked on EBay and Completely Blown away that
the same size Batry that I got in AGM is still
available for even less than 40 $'s with Free Shipping
and some with Free Return's!

That's Amazing to me.

Try and get the AGM Cross # for your Battery and check
the price's EBay and Amazon. So far I am Extremely
Impressed with the AGM batterie's, but make sure to try
and get the Highest CCA Rateing and best to get Free
Shipping and Free Return's in case there is a problem.

One of the best thing's that has paid for itself many
time's over is a Float charger like a Battery Tender or
Automatic Battery Maintainer. They will charge the
Battery to Full charge and then stop chargeing and
monitor the Battery State of Charge. Several Different
Brand's of these and I like the Schumacher Brand, but I
just get the cheapest one that will do what I need
done.

I just can't believe that I can still get an AGM
battery for the same price or maybe a little lower than
I paid over 4 year's ago!

I had to use the 9 volt battery deal to hold the memory for the Texas state inspection. You have to drive a certain way to re set the parameters for the state to look at. I think it takes up to 20 minutes on my "99
Also had the same thing happen on a 02 Sentra that was not mine. It had the computer replaced. The people that replaced the computer were not smart enough to do the state inspection. The owner called me. I had it sent elsewhere. That inspector drove it for twenty minutes then passed the Sentra.

Thanks for all your efforts.. Don S..

Hey Don,

I just finished putting in the New Champion AGM Battery
in the Frontier. It's got a 48 Month Free Replacement
if it goes bad.

I used the EZ Red MS4000 to keep the System Energized.
I had the Battery disconnected for about 5 hour's more
or less. The EZ Red MS4000 worked good as far as I
could tell. It cranked up good, Idled like it alway's
has, The Radio Preset's were there, so I'm hopeing
that all the Engine and other system's memorie's were
Saved.

The Hardest Part for me was lifting out the old
battery. I'm not able to lift as much as I used to.

The Pepboy's Champion AGM Group 35 fit perfect, even
the Nissan Battery Cover fit the new battery.

Thanks for Helping me Don,
Regards,
