i just put a 3 inch body lift and 31x10.50x15 on my 98 single cab 4x4. i have noticed 2 problems after the install. #1 my truck now pulls to the right ever so slightly now so i am guessing that an alignment is needed or the steering column extension is a little off. #2 when breaking i have to pump the breaks several times because, for one, it feels like there is massive air in the line and two, it yanks to the right when it is just pushed. During install nothing was altered on brakes. Also wondering if i should convert rear drums to discs. i have lost about 4mpg as well. How can i gain 2mpg back? Any suggestions for any of these?

..

Welcome to the group!

The things that make a truck better off road make it worse on road. The trucks brakes were not designed to handle the rotating mass of the oversized and heavier wheels and tires. The steering linkage is not strong enough to hold up to the added wheel weight so drive it gently or up grade it. The trucks center of gravity is now higher and chances of rolling are increased.

All highway vehicles are suppose to pull lightly to the right. This is so if the driver goes to sleep the vehicle will drift off the road to the right. A front end alignment and resurfacing the brake discs with new pads might fix some of the problems.

Good luck.. Don S..

You may also have slightly kinked a brake hose by lifting the truck.  You should check this out as it is an unsafe condition.

I believe your MPG is less due to the fact that the speedometer is now reading incorrectly. Bigger tires turn slower. Check out this calculator which shows the speedo changes when changing tire sizes:

(I could not get hyper link to work)

Try this one. I've used it often...

Also much added wind drag from large wide tires! lakota
