ok. i managed to fit 5 1/4 speakers in the rear of my crew cab. anyone else have any ideas? im trying to get components installed in the rear doors, but i am limited to room, due to the window brace. DEPTH is the issue. i have 6 3/4 components for the front, and really want components for the rear. any ideas?

How much space is between the speaker and door trim?  My colorado has the same clearance issue for the window brace getting in the way... but there is enough room that I can add a spacer to use larger speakers.

I'd find out for sure.  You could get a decent size speaker if you use a 3/4" MDF spacer ring... but that all depends upon if you would still have some room for excursion.

i used the mdf spacers and i have a 01' crew cab fronty, i have 6 1/2 pioneers in the back doors and pioneer 6x9 in the front doors. i am running a 4ch amp to both of them. sound a million times better than the factory speakers.lol.

MDF spacer is just a piece of MDF wood cut into a ring to sit in-between the speaker and door mount.  MDF can be found at your local home improvement stores (Lowes, Home Depot, Etc.)

4xfrontyxe, what size MDF spacers did you use to fit those 6 1/2's in the rear and 6x9's up front? and were they a tight fit...what size amp are you running and would it be absolutely necessary to run an amp...i'm thinking that it wouldn't, because the factory stereo should be able to push enough to make any replacement speakers sound a ton better than stock speakers, i have an '01 fronty CC SE with the in dash 6-CD changer
