I have about 65000 miles on my 04. About a month ago the clutch started to squeak when I press it. I figured out where it is coming from. It is coming from where the slave cylinder presses on the lever to move the clutch, but its on the side of the lever thats inside the housing.

Im just wondering what I should do about the squeak. Can I just spray WD-40 on it, or will it get on the clutch and make it slip? Any Ideas?

Dave;

Unless they have changed the formula of WD-40 it's really not much as lubes go. It great for displacing water but weak for inhibiting rust. I tried it when cleanning black powder rifles and they quickly rusted. Make sure any oil mist doesn't get on the clutch it's self...

Have a good one and see you later… Don S..

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State . A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem. Or drink all your beer!

So you would suggest something like 3in1 oil, but not something in an aerosol can.

I guess my question is, that if I spray something in there...can it get on the clutch plate itself? The exploded diagram I have of the clutch doesn't really give much help.

Dave;

My wife used to use 3-in-one on her old sewing machines one day she tried some LaBelle 108 from a model train shop and said it was more than twice as good meaning longer lasting. You might try Gunk- Liquid-Wrench spray or CRC HD Silicone Spray lightly and give it time to work its way to the squeak.Sorry but I’ve never seen inside a Nissan housing.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

Laws such as the use of corn ethanol are driving up the cost of living (have you been to the grocery store lately) without driving up wages. This equates to a lower standard of living thanks to Agro-lobbyists and corrupt and/or ill-informed lawmakers.
