Hi,
I bought 2004 nissan sentra from dealer today and by my bad luck, engine light showed up today it self.
Dealer says as car was sitting here and with low gas it might have developed moisture so he added  some dry gas and removed code but still code came back. he says try for 2 days and it will go else come back.
 
Does anybody know what code p1038 means, it showed that it is Fuel and air meter", but can this light come due to moisture. Also on accelaration some noise is comming and on right turning noise comes, i do not know it is related or not?
Can somebody help me ?

Welcome to the Frontier Truck group.

I checked the Frontier/Pathfinder engine codes and found nothing. If the noise you hear while 'on the gas' is a sort of a rattling sound it's pre-igntion. Don't let it do it! Many things can cause it. Bad knock sensor, bad gas, carbon build up in the engine and injector tips are a few of them.

- Trickle 2/3 of the remaining 8 oz of seafoam down that line. You may need to have a friend there with a hand on the throttle giving it just enough gas to keep it running.
- With the final 1/3 of the remaining half can, now just dump it down the vaccum line. This should kill the engine. If not, shut it off ASAP after doing this.
- Use seafoam deep creep spray and pull the air intake tube, push the throttle butterfly back and spray about 1/3 can down the intake and let it sit as well.
- Reassemble your intake and put the brake vacuum line back on.
- Let the truck sit 30 minutes.
- Start the truck back up (it will start hard)
- Let the truck idle 15 minutes. If it doesn't want to idle, work the throttle a little bit to keep it running, but do not rev hard on it during this period. The truck may smoke a considerable amount during this time. Don't worry, it's not going to hurt anything.
- Go out and take it on a drive - flog it. You'll make lots and lots of white smoke.
- After a few wide open throttle accelerations, the smoke will clear and you'll end up with a better running truck. This cleans all the carbon buildup on the inside of the engine.
- Lastly, change your oil. This will be the blackest, nastiest oil you drain out of your truck.

This stuff is a petroleum product and will not harm sensors, cats, etc. I know it's weird to think about dumping something like this in the oil, but with the difference it made on my car, I'm sold on this stuff. The pinging went away, as did a flat spot in my rpm range under acceleration. The car also is idling a lot smoother."

Or use some Lucas Fuel Treatment... I do...

I believe that it works like the guy says, but that sounds like some "Automotive Voodoo". I swear I was waiting to see something about putting the blood of a virgin in the oil or something like that.

In the old days to remove carbon we would rev up the engines and pour water down the carburetors just slow enough to keep the engine running. Later I switched from water to type A transmission fluid. Now days with the catalytic converters read the following:

 

Perhaps millions of engines have run a long time without upper lubes. But I know of many that have run smoother and with better fuel economy, less tune-ups and less upper end wear on parts including valve stems, carburetors, fuel injectors and some types of fuel pumps.

1. Out Board Oil (at less than $2.00 per pint) is made from heat resistant very low ash content oil and has cleaners as well as rust inhibitors.

2. Many modern vehicles are equipped with metal to metal gyrator type (like an oil pump) fuel pumps and gasoline is not a good lubricant.

3. There are parts in fuel injectors and carburetors that benefit from the cleaners and lubricants in the OB oil.

4. The cleaners will reduce carbon build up on the valves, spark plugs, EGR systems, and in the firing chamber and this can reduce pinging.

5. Benefits include reduced wear on many items including compression rings.

6. The Out Board Oil does not foul the Catalytic converter.

 

For one example:

... We jump in the wife’s DD Nissan V-6 Quest for a sudden 3000 mile trip. The engine had a miss under load and the fuel mileage was over 25% down from normal highway fuel mileage. At the second fuel stop I added 8 oz of Pennzoil 2 cycle out board oil to the twenty gallons.  

... After less than 100 miles I can’t feel the miss in the engine. At the next fuel stop the mileage was back up to 29 mpg. I saved more than the $1.76 for the oil on the next fill up alone. I don’t know whether it was carbon on the plugs, the gyrator rotor in the fuel pump galling, valves sticking, or if it was fuel injectors sticking! All I know is the car ran perfect for a long time after the trip.

... I had an MMO vacuum operated upper oiler on several of my vehicles from 1951 until 1960 when I decided against using MMO.

(MMO = Marvel Mystrey Oil)
