i'm a noob to this site.  i tried the search with no luck.  but i'm in a pinch and need some advice.  i have a 98 4x2 and need to replace the clutch.  i have the driveshaft out and was about to start pulling everything out when i thought "is all this really needed to replace the clutch?"  does the trans have to come all the out?  cross member and all that other junk?  where is the crank position sensor?  i already had the truck on ramps and my big ass couldn't see the top of the trans.  HELP!?  any tips would help me from going completely gray!

friend of mine did one on an xtrea yes the trans has to be pulled to even get to the cluthch. Now to the other stuff reserface the flywheel the right way have a shop the turns brake drums do it or my cheap way get a drill with a wire wheel and debeir the flywheel.Get a thow out bearing some clutch don1t have them it .slso flush your slave cylinder btw anyone out flushed there slave cylinder before any tricks. Rember to put a thin film of grease around and in the thow out bearing if not could rattle and drive you nuts on what you might of done wrong

if your truck is a everdayday driver I would find a shop to resurface the flywheel and inspeced for any problems because its one less thing to worry bout when done.Flush your slave cylinder and fill back to proper level
