  Looking for a little help here actually looking for a diagram of a 2001 Frontier automatic door lock setup. I'm not looking for a wiring diagram. My passenger side door will not unlock. When I flip the switch to unlock the door I hear the motor making a funny noise. I think the motor is ok I think it is just a rod or something not lining up to unlock the door and the motor is straining. I can't open my door to take the panel off to look at the problem. Anyone know a way to get the door open if this happens? Any thought or comments are appreciated.

Thank you!

..

mbarr69;

Have you tried the remote unlock. There is a weird combo of locking with the remote then unlocking from the inside that caused me a problem years ago. Might try leaning on the door to close it tighter then unlock it. Let an old cop or crook try it...

My passenger door still has a standard key-lockset. I notice mant new vehicles don't.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

Usually, even if the lock is an automatic lock, it relies on a motor and mechanical arm to lock/unlock the latch.

If you've got a frontier, why haven't you downloaded the factory service manual yet?  there's a stick for it in this forum.  Here's the link.

Go there, get your FSM, look up the diagram on the door panel removal and lock diagram.

Hope that helps.
