Last evening, I went out to start my 2007 V-6 Frontier auto and the engine turned over quite well but it would not start.  I had driven home from work about two hours before, no problem, and parked in the driveway.  So I was a bit perpelxed.  I let it sit overnight and at * AM this morning thought I would try it one more time before having it towed to the dealer and ....bingo, fired right off and it was 3 F.  Last night it was about 10 F.  So an intermittent problem?  Has anyone experienced this before?  I am guessing some temperature related problem.  Battery is great.  Really cranks the engine over quite rapidly.

Any thoughts are welcome!!  Thanks in advance.

With newer vehicles you don't run into the temp problems as much unless it's really cold, and a lot lower than just 3 degrees.

I would just keep an eye on it, and if does it again to the point where it actually drains the battery, then I would have the fuel system checked out.

Just a reminder, short drive cycles are very bad for any engine. If you start your vehicle, move from the driveway into the garage or from one side of the street to the other and then shut it off(especially cold eng) most likely won't start next morning. With the eng cold, extra fuel going in, breaks loose pieces of carbon that get between the valves and seats, acts like no compression when attempting to start. Best to run it around the block or let it run for 5 mins or so before shutting off. Just a thought. There is also a NTB that explains this.

Thanks fopr all of the replies.  I will check grounds on the vehicle.  Only has about 14,000 miles on it.  Has not done it again (at least so far).

Funny you asked, I had the same thing happen this morning.....went out to start it (06 CC 4X4 SE 4.0) - cranked great but would not fire.  Drove it home from work on the last start so that ruled out the "very short trip" possibility.  It would crank fine, then after 3 or 4 seconds of cranking I noticed the anti theft light was flashing each time.  Tried five or six tikes to start until it fired up as per normal.  I also used my key fob to lock/unlock the doors to try to resend the "hey, it's OK to start" signal to the BCM, but it did not work.  This is the second time in a few months that this has happened, and based on outside temp and previous easy starts and performance, I do not believe it is fuel related unless it was just coincidence that the fuel pump just happened to not want to work those two times.  I am wondering if I have a bad "chip" in the one kjey, or is my BCM not working properly and not shutting off the immobilizer? (cause that would be cheap to replace!!!).  Would resetting the computer help?  Anyone know how to do it? BTW grounds are fine.

Update 25Mar09:  Just so happened that the check engine light came on last week - diagnosis fuel level sensor.  Turns out the sensor and fuel pump come as one unit so had them replaced....  $700.00.  Guess that will rule out a bad fuel pump for my no start issue.  Mechanic said that the dealer told him it was a fairly common replacement issue.......
