I've had my Frontier XE 6cyl automatic king cab for a little over a year. During that time it has shut down on me three times. It takes several tries and several minutes to get started again. The starter cranks and the engine turns over, but dies when I try to give it gas. First I chalked this up to some bad gas, but what is common to all instances is a light rain and sitting on a slight incline. It has actually happened twice in the exact same location! After a few minutes it starts up and runs fine. Could there be water seeping into something electrical?

..

Welcome to the group!

Check the electrical connections at the fuel tank. There have been a few issues of corrosion in salty areas. Check the fuel filters...

It’s possible the fuel pump is getting weak. Another possibility is clogged fuel tank venting system. Let us know what you find. Good luck

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

You may want to put a wrench on the engine grounds located on the drivers side timing chain cover(10 mm) and the main one from the battery to engine(12 mm) on the pass side just above the P/S pump.
Yes, it sounds like water intrusion due to the common factor of occurring during rain. Is the check engine lite on? Have you had it to your dealer? As already mentioned, you may want to check the fuel pump connection, although that was a concern on pre 05 models, haven't seen a problem on the 05 and later.

The grounds on the timing chain cover were in fact loose. We'll see if it happens again. Thanks for the suggestions.
