I jusst have a quick question. Is there a way the bed extender can be used with a motorcycle in the back of the truck? My problem is that the extender only latches on when it is in the vertically upright postition. I am unable to walk to the back of the truck and hook up the extender from standing behind the truck. I have to hold the extender upright, latch it on, then drop the extender down. This cannot be done with my motorcycle in the truck. Is there something I am missing? I am not able to adjust the latching tabs on the extender to allow me to hook it up in the down position.

Thanks,
David

Well, you could take the extender tabs out of the Utilitrak, put the extender in them, load the cycle and then reinsert the extender tabs with the bed extender in them back into the Utilitrak.  That should work and solve your problem.

But why not leave the extender off.  Use the large Utilitrak clips and tie your bike to them with ratchet straps Put two in the front of the bed and one on each side.  Bike should be very stable like this if you pull the straps tight.

I tried doing that but the only way the sliding extender piece comes off is by sliding it all the way up to the front. Mine does not come off by sliding it back all the way,it hits the corners of the bed.

The reson I want the extender is that I also put gas and duffel bags with the bike and like to use extender for piece of mind.

Buy one of those fabric tailgate replacements for a full size truck.  Once the bike is loaded, put it across the back allowing the bike to bow it out.  If firmly attached to the sides, you can now load your gear using this to hold it in place.
