i just had my 06 frontier in the shop for a state safety inspection. i had to
have the rear right axle seal replaced as it was leaking. during
replacement i was told that the axle shaft was corroded and will more
than likely wear the new seal too. apparently a replacement from nissan
was almost $500 and days away.

unfortunately, that was a bit more than i had to spend now so i had them
button it back up. i'll keep an eye for leaks in the meantime while i look
for a replacement.

i can't seem to find any info on the part - such as part #, other vehicles
that share the same part, any aftermarket shafts, etc. any help would be
great.

also, from looking at what's needed i'm pretty sure i can handle the swap
myself. anyone have any experience that says otherwise (ie the work is
much more complicated than described in the shop manual)?

thanks!

btw i guess info would help. it's a '06 LE KingCab 4WD 6-sp m/t

I don't have an actual link to point you to a price because I got a similar axle
parts for a Nissan Titan for around $450. It was through the classifieds, and
I installed it myself. Did the quote of $500 include labor or is that a separate
price altogether? I ask because if it's the complete package, I'd go with the
dealer. I've read on different forums about axle replacement costs ranging
anywhere between $400-900.
