Here is something probably on the dumb side... I opened
the hood the other day and tried to add windshield wiper
fluid... the tank looks half full, but when i pour the
fluid in the tank it doesn't go down or it is real, real
slow... i waited a half hour and tried again, thinking it
was because the truck had just been used... still slow
moving.., i also released the vent on top of the tank...
i have a 2010 pro4x... what am i doing wrong? should i
try again with the truck cold?

It sounds like you are trying to put it in the coolant over
flow tank!!! Better check your owners manual to be sure.
There is no vent on the washer tank other than the cap
itself.

Hmmm... That would be bad... However, I am putting the
windshield fluid in a small semi clear tank in back of the
battery on the left side of the vehicle... there is a blue
cap with what looks like an image of a face without eyes
and without a mouth... then on top of the tank (probably
holds a gallon of fluid) is what looks like a vent...
Manual indicates washer fluid... thanks for your
response...

I just looked at my truck and yes looks like you are referring to the washer fluid tank. The neck of this tank sticks out from the fender right? My guess is that it is a really big tank, I cannot even see the fluid levels in mine, I do know that these trucks of a low washer fluid warning light.
You are referring to the left side as the passenger side of the vehicle...correct?
David

Right and left refer to sitting in the drivers seat, so the
washer tank is on the right side of the vehicle. Are you
sure the fluid is not frozen? As djb noted, the tank is not
visible as the coolant tank is, that is why I suggested you
were attempting to put it in the wrong tank. It's been done
before.

page 8-6 show the windshield wiper fluid tank and the coolant tank right next to each other... I am filling
the right tank, that's a relief... The bottom of the
windshield tank can't be seen. I thought I was looking
at the bottom of the windshield tank when it was, in
fact, the bottom of the coolant tank... No worries...
Since we are on the subject, my coolant tank is half
full... should I top that off?

I don't think the windshield fluid is frozen... Its been
a mild winter here in New Hampshire. Maybe it is just
full... Any good way to drain the windshield tank other
than from inside the truck? Want to put a de-icing/rain-
x washer fluid in my tank...

thanks for the comments...

There should be a "MAX and "MIN" line on the tank, keep it
toward the max line. Why not just use what is in the washer
tank, then refill with rain x or what ever?
