Hello, I have a quick question, on the passenger side of the radiator there is an electric fan, (next to the water pump driven belt fan) what makes this electric fan come on? Engine temperature? AT temperature?

On most vehicles the electric fan is turned on with over normal temperatures and when the A/C is turned on. Modern refirigrants require more cooling than the old R-12.

My early '99 Frontier doesn't have the fan. My '99 Grand Cherokee with belt driven fan & electric fan and '08 Camry electric fan work this way.

Turn on the A/C and see if it runs...

I did have the AC on today, and never saw the fan come on, maybe it only comes on when it is hot? (like on a hot summer day with AC and 100+ degrees?)
