Long time not talk guys!

I'm in need of some help! Just got the Frontier back on the road and
she's been running fine! Made a stop and when i came back out I turned
the key and it just kept crankin over and over. I pulled out plug 1 and
grounded it to the valve cover and also the plenium manifold and
cranked but still nothing. Also i pulled off the cap and cranked just to see
if the rotor button was spinning.. it is not! I have no idea where to begin. I
did check all my fuses and such they were all good. Thanks for the help
guys!!

Sad to hear...

Did you check to see if any fumes or air movement coming out of the tail pipe indicating valves are working?

Good Luck.. Don S..

I've got the distributor disassembled to check some of the wires with a multimeter. I didn't check to see if I could smell fumes coming from the tailpipe but I the motor does turn very smoothly and there is no knocking or like a whipping sound of the belt hitting the cover. Is there a way to check the timing belt without ripping EVERYTHING apart?

Also some of my buddies are saying they've had issues with distributor problems similar to mine and it was there camshaft position sensor (CAS)? I'm stumped -__-

Thanks for the help!

Remove a couple of spark plugs and a compression check or remove a valve cover to see if the valves are working.

Good Luck.. Don S..

So i've not done a compression check but some friends had told me to
remove the oil fill cap and watch inside while someone turns the motor
over, well i did that and i seen no moving parts. I'm guessing thats telling
me my timing belt is broke??

Sadly I'd bet on the belt.

Is this the SE 3.3L V6
How many miles did it have on it.
I've never read anything about how long the belts would last time wise.

Don S..

yes it's the Frontier. It's got 200,000. I've never had the timing belt
replaced on it and i've had it since 2008. It was my dad's truck before
and he kept it in good shape but i've never known if he changed the belt.
This is a bummer!! It's just odd how i drove it then parked and came
back out and it started this. What about my camshaft position sensor?
I've not hooked a code reader up yet either. Thanks a lot for all the help!!

so got the truck apart, found out that the about 6 teeth had sheared off
right at the crankshaft gear. so whenever it would turn over it was just
sitting there on the belt spinning. now, does this mean i've damaged
something internally? i'm picking up a new belt tomorrow to throw on
and do a test start. also in a previous post i said i drove to the store and
when i came back out to start it thats when it started just turning over.

I have not read of any of the 3.3 V-6's engines having bent valves because of belt problems.
I'm knowing on wood... My '99 is getting old but is very low mileage.

Let me now how it goes.. Don S..

Here is a list by Gate's, of Interference Engine's:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/95090713/Timing-Belt-Gates-Interfe rence-Engine-Data

I did read a post,, that at least one of Nissan's V6 engine's, would interfer only about 1/32, so at very low rpm's, it's possible that the Valve's were not damaged.

Some of the Interference Engine List's contradict each other, so if the Engine will Start, he'll know pretty quick, if there is valve damage.

Let us know what happened, please,

Good Luck
