2012 Frontier SV 4x4

The manual says Type S chains on the rear, no mention
of on the front.

The Type S chain is so wimpy why not on the front?

I tried and they have no clearance problems.

So why not on the front?

Thanks,
Ralph

..

I don't know... I've seen it done on all four wheels.
I have never used chains on a 4x4.
Even in Colorado.

Shot taken in our '95 Hardbody

Front axles are much weaker and might break.

Have a good one.. Don S..

You probable have aggressive tires. I have just the stock
all season tires. They probable will do except when/if
you get into a exceptionally icey winter like last year.
I had over six inches of solid ice on my 1/4 mile
driveway.

Great picture!!

..

I have used BFG KO AT 31x10.50x15(Tri-guard side walls)tires on all my 4x4's. Mainly do to the big sharp rocks in the Colorado mountains.
I even put them on the rear of a '76 Datsun 2WD pick-up and did very well in Colorado snow.

Wet weather stopping is very good. We have 8 to 10 inch snows every 10 years or so and ice every year.

I've only lost one BFG in 30 years of off roading and that was caused by a railroad spike.

Have a good one.. Don S..
