2006 Frontier V6
I am not getting power to my AC compressor. No voltage at
the compressor itself (for the clutch to engage), and no
power at the pressure switch. I do have power on both
sides of the fuse, though.
I see no mention of a typical AC relay on my truck, but I
have read some posts here and on other sites about a
"thermo amplifier". Could this be my problem? Is there
one on a 2006 Frontier?
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
It's starting to get hot out there!

More info: digging through the FSM, I see that it refers to
an Intake Sensor. Is this what was called a Thermo
Amplifier on some other Frontier models?

It's a page from forum search ... A/C thermal sensor
Good luck.. Don S..

Thanks for the reply, Don. My concern is that when I
find that part online it seems to only be for Frontiers
up until 2002. Perhaps it's just bad info. The FSM has
a part called an Intake Sensor and I am not sure if
that's the same part. I guess all I can do is take out
my glovebox and open up the evaporator box to see if
that part is actually in there... but do you know if my
2006 Frontier has that same part? Thanks in advance.

2006 Nissan Frontier 4.0 V6
My trials and tribulations on this continue, and it's in
the 90s in Georgia now...
Quick recap: my compressor died on me. Locked up. I
replaced it but then it would not ever engage the
magnetic clutch and therefore would not compress. I
checked for voltage at the compressor and had none, but
if I run a wire from the battery to the compressor the
clutch engages right away. A buddy checked voltage at the
low/high dual pressure switch and said it had none but I
need to double check that... those terminals are deep in
there and I have found that sometimes I need to put a
wire in there to ensure that my volt meter leads (which
are not as skinny) are actually getting metal.
First I was thinking that the intake sensor might be bad,
so I took out the glove compartment, etc, and got to
that. I had a good 5 volts coming from the front air
control and also made sure that I had continutity on both
wires between the front air control and and intake
sensor. Further, I appear to be getting good resistance
values from that sensor when I check continuity. I even
put it in the freezer for a while and the value changed
to reflect that colder temperature, so I think that
sensor part is fine.
At that point I was thinking that the BCM/ECM/IPDM chain
was failing to deliver power and I stumbled across the
auto self test, where you turn the key on, press the door
switch 10 times, then turn the key off and on again. The
magnetic clutch on the compressor DID engage 5 times, so
the system is *capable* of engaging the clutch, which
leads me to believe that the system thinks that it should
not be delivering power to the clutch. My understand of
that chain of logic is: first, is the pressure in the
system in range - if not, do not send power. Second, is
the intake sensor reporting that the evaporator coils are
too cold - if too cold, do not send power. Am I missing
anything else?
So..
1. Does anyone have the pinout for the 3-wire connector
that goes to the low/high pressure switch for the A/C
system? I am unsure which wire is which.
2. Any other suggestions or comments on this problem? I
feel like I am getting really close to nailing this.
Thanks very much.
