On my 1998 Nissan Frontier, 180K miles, the anti-theft
system goes off randomly if the vehicle is locked.
I’d like to disable the system to prevent the system
from going off. In addition to going off randomly,
there is a periodic clicking coming from a component
just to the right of the fuse block, under the dash,
which sounds as a relay activating. I believe this is
also related to the activation of the anti-theft
system. When the alarm goes off the FOB de-activates
it and the truck starts normally.

This all started about a year ago when one my family
members – and electrical engineer no less - jumped the
vehicle positive-to-negative

The fuse that protects the anti-theft system is not
labeled as such. Does anyone know exactly what fuse
controls the system? This would be the easiest way to
disable the system.

As an alternative, there is a relay block in the
engine compartment, on the passenger side next to the
firewall. The 5 relay slots are labeled (from back to
front) KEYLESS, ANTI-THEFT HEAD LAMP, ASCD, ANTI THEFT
HORN, and the final one is not labeled. Slots for
ASCD and the unlabeled are empty. Can I disable the
system by removing the ANTI THEFT HEAD LAMP and ANTI
THEFT HORN relays? Are these the only two relays to
remove, and are the other implications to this?

The owners and Haynes manuals don’t help me any on
this problem and the existing threads don’t tell me
how to permanently disable the system.

Thanks for any and all advice.
