Well first off, have them show you the numbers from the test, and the numbers for what the factory says it's supposed to be. Have them show you the bad parts, and explain why they are bad. If it seems fishy, get another opinion.
At the end, have them give you back your bad parts, to prove they actually replaced them or have them show you. A classic deal with repair shops was to claim all these problems, have people fork out money for them, and never do the work.
If the timing belt was installed wrong, you would have known right away. Did you notice the engine having a rough idle, barely stay running? Loud knocking sound, pinging, or grinding? A bad cat is either usually one that isn't converting the gases like they're supposed to, or plugged up. But if they're plugged up, they'll throw an Engine code long before it does any damage.
