I was told Nissan will cover up to $500 for repair of stone chips on these trucks. The guy that wants $2000 to fix it must be out of his mind or there are a lot of gullable people out there. How can anyone justify $2K to do this repair, it's a very greedy world out there!

I did get mine fixed for $900. I went to 2 dealers here locally and neither offered me anything but the useless Nissan customer service number. They're idea of service is no warranty apparently.

My 06 has the same problem - must be an airflow design problem. Also, ALL the paint on the plastic valence below the grill has flaked off. I'm not even going to bother with the dealer. Call it capitulation, but I already know it's not worth the effort. Too bad they're such great trucks otherwise. Almost all dealership sevice sucks rears. Ever wonder why they ask you if you can touch your toes? Cause you're going to take it dry from them!! The only positive dealing I've ever had with a dealership was from Kia....replaced a transmission free of charge even though we missed two of three services. The tranny problem was not service related but I'm sure they still could have told us to pound salt if they wanted to.
lakota fixed it for you-

Truck went into the body shop today. They are even going to fix the small ding in the wheel opening that I did up in the woods and also fix the scratches on the other wheel opening, this is along with the chip damage that Nissan is covering.

Sounds like it's a dealer courtesy to you(especially seeing you're a Nissan technician) than something Nissan warranty is covering...They absolutely refused to do anything with mine, about the 10th trip to the dealer and after the better business bureau case it got kind of nasty, I won't go to the dealer where I bought it anymore for anything, I'm pretty sure they're delighted at that...it just got really frustrating so I eventually vented to the point of driving out into the lot while a guy was looking at a truck to point out the problems with mine, he also couldn't believe they weren't covering it under warranty.

Got mine back today, looks good. Not only mine, but other customer trucks have been repaired for chip damage. They will cover up to $500 and that is what the body shop bill was, I saw it. I did give the guy a $40 tip for taking care of the two dings I put in it.

So I see this is an old thread but my 2010 Frontier 4X4 SE
has the exact same rust on both sides - in front of the
rear wheel opening behind the cab. I have also noted that
the paint is cracked and rust is appearing on the passenger
side door sill where it has a weld.
Can anyone give advice of a way to get this taken care of?
What has worked for others?
