Frontierguy is right.

My experience: My truck, code was reset (P0420), good for a couple days then it came back on - same as yours. It was the 3 way cat.

I can tell you if NC is like VA and requires a state inspection, yours won't pass till this is fixed.

The problem occurs due to the inability of the cat to store O2, some days are better than others, if you have a P0420 or P0430, you need that particular cat.

Okay yal, thanks for the wealth of input. I got the code read last night: P0430, Bank 2. Which Cat is this?
