I had a K&N filter on my other truck. It would let a lot
of dust past and it would coat the clean side of my air
box. I just run normal filters now.

beware of cold air intakes. they may actually hurt your vehicle as the K&N did on my '10 frontier 4.0. i LOST almost 1 mpg and it feels like i downshift sooner on hill pulls. i have taken mine off and am back to normal. i actually read a very interesting article on why this happens in a sport tuning magazine (i think it was the may issue). worth checking out. something about "swirling" the air around the maf sensor.
