I have a 2000 Nissan Frontier Truck 3.3 V6 Automatic. Several months ago I noticed a slight stumble while idling & the service light came on. It showed burning rich on the right bank. I was told to clean the throttle body & vacuum system & fuel system with Sea Foam. I did that & the light went off but the stumble was still there & has gotten worse & you can smell it's not burning right. It idles at 750 but bounces back & forth from 750 to 650 when it's at normal operating temp. Sometimes on the first crank & stopped at red lights the idle will start dropping until it stalls but will re-crank. Sometimes when you push the gas pedal the truck won't move then all of a sudden takes off. I was told to replace the TPS because the spring sticks on this year model but that didn't help. I use NOTHING but Genuine Nissan Parts from the dealer. Everything that has been serviced or replaced in the last 2 years... Radiator removed & flushed, NGK Plugs, Plug Wires, Distributor, Timing Belts, Knock Sensor, TPS. I was told to use Autolite plugs but I used NGK because that's what came in it & what it calls for & I believe that you get what you pay for. Oh yea. The Nissan Dealer done a recall on the sending unit in the fuel tank. The fuel pump strainer & the fuel filter was replaced. I replaced the fuel filter again a couple of weeks ago just to rule that out.

Is the check engine light on? May need to do a voltage drop
test at the MAFS and clean/tighten all the engine grounds.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, we had a death in the family. The check engine light was on & it showed that it was burning rich on the right bank but it went out when I sea foamed it a couple of months ago.

There is no 0114 code!!! P0172 is a rich code-have you
tried cleaning the MAFS and are you using a Genuine Nissan
oil impregnated air filter??????

There is a scan tool code which is... P0172 & there is a check engine light flash code which is... 0114 in the Chilton manual in chapter 6 section 9. Yes I cleaned the MAFS & yes I am using a Genuine Nissan air filter. As I said in my first post, I only buy Genuine Nissan parts from my local Nissan Dealer. I took my truck to the Nissan dealer this afternoon & asked them to see if they could find the problem & of course they wanted to put it on their machine & check everything. I let them considering they were only charging me $55.00 & they were only keeping it a little over an hour. They got the P0172 code but couldn't find what was causing it either so it was a waste of time & money. They said what ever part is going bad is going to quit sooner or later. I figured that much. I guess i'll mess with it tomorrow.

P0172 is most likely caused by a faulty MAFS or a voltage
drop concern at the MAFS. It is very important to clean and
tighten all engine grounds including the battery terminals.

Ok. I will let you know what happens. I just thought of something & it might not be anything important but when I get out of my truck if I leave my key in the ignition the battery will go dead even though it's in the off position. As long as I take my key out it doesn't. I always take my key out so I never even thought about that. It doesn't have the anti theft system. Another quick question for my other 2000 Nissan Frontier. My automatic trans. (4x4) shifts rough going from 1st to 2nd gear. I have changed the strainer & fluid but that didn't help. I read other peoples post about that being normal for these Nissan's & it being good for the trans. to shift rough but my other truck shifts normal & I have never heard of rough shifting being good on a trans. My question is, is this normal for most of these trucks?
