I have a 2009 Frontier Crew Cab 4x4 SE with the 4.0L engine and I am
averaging 18.2 miles per gallon or about 310 miles on a tank with about
2-3 gallons left over. I think this is about 498 km. When I drive
highway only I can get as much as 20 - 21 miles per gallon but that is
my best and driving from NJ to Florida for vacation.

I am thinking of adding a Cold Air Kit in the hopes of improving mileage
some. I also have a hard cover on the bed.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

A few things that have helped me:

-Frequent air filter changes
-If possible drive less aggressively
-Proper tire inflation
-Use recommended grade of Motor Oil (I'm sure you are).
-Replace your oxygen sensor (can improve milage by 40%)

I have been running non-ethanol gas in my Frontier, and it has increased the mileage by about 2.5 miles per gallon.

But with the .45 cent/gallon price increase for the non-ethanol gas, I am questioning the economic sense of doing so.

I could likely get better results, but it gives the truck a little more power, and I like to feel that power increase, if you know what I mean

I also have a Ford Ranger 4X4 with the 4 liter V6.  I routinely get 19 mpg local and 25 mpg on the highway. This is with the A/C on.  I am disappointed in the very poor mileage the Frontier delivers.  One of the reasons to get a small truck is to provide increased fuel mileage.

The full size F150's are actually getting 18 mpg and 21 mpg highway. This is accurate.

I'll tell ya.

Back in January when we 1st got this Hog. I was getting 12mpg. Now after almost 4000 miles a new Gibson cat back exhaust, I am now running 17-18 mpg average. The end of June through the hills of Allegany State Park and Bradford PA I averaged 21mpg.....i'm pleased to say the least

I have changed the oil twice and use Mobil 1 5W-30 with a Nissan oil filter.  The air filter is still the original paper filter.  The truck was broken in very carefully, fowwlowing the owner's manual recommendations for the first 1200 miles.

Try running at 2,000 RPM when on the highway. I can get 23.4  if I stay at that RPM. If I go over, the mileage suffers.

my gas mileage has really dropped and I have been running
all gasoline for the last two months after propane went
sky high.   almost getting 17 mpg on gas, and only 13 or
14 mpg on LP.    this is a 2010 V6 Frontier with
automatic tranny.

two codes have come up one being bad cat, and with
180,000 miles on the truck, (90,000 on the LP system) i
did away with the cats and had straight pipes welded in.

the 430 code for cats iirc, has been eliminated with the
oil blockers screwed into the rear bungs stepping the O2
sensors out.

the other code, which i don't remember was for a misfire
on cylinder 1.    I suspected a bad coil, and swapped it
with the coil from the driver's side.    checked again,
still showed same code.    i replaced all the plugs with
iridium, and still have the same code.

I then came home and sprayed all vacuum lines down with
WD40 and noticed no change at all in engine RPMs.

so, any suggestions or ideas?    if it is a injector
going out, or stopped up, i did add a can of Sea Foam to
my gas.

Hey guys what's going on? I drive a 2010
nissan frontier Pro4x v6 with 78k on it.
My gas mileage has fallen really low
lately (around 11 mpg) and I don't know
what to do. I take care of my truck and
there is no check engine light. My buddy
thinks it's sparkplugs so I'm doing that
this weekend. Any help would be great.
