My husband died last year and I have his 1998 Nissan frontier truck.  I have  replaced the battery and the alternator is good.  I am experiencing some type of electrical drain because every few days, when I try to crank the truck, I have to recharge the battery.  Do you have any suggestions what my next step should be.  I would like to know a little more about the problem before I take it to the shop.  Thanks!

Sounds like some type of short or drain.  This can be checked by looking at the drain on the battery as you pull and then replace one fuse at a time to find the circuit that is the culprit.  You can then work on that circuit to find the exact problem.  A good independent shop can do this type of analysis.

Check the obvious.  Is there an interior light on when the truck is parked?  Even something small like a glove box light will drain a battery.  How about an underhood light?  Are the brake lights off?  Do you hear anything running like a small motor?

Thanks for the advise, I have checked the interior light, brake lights, under the hood and listened for any noise, but can't hear or see anything.  I will try to check out the circuit first and then if I can't find it I will send it to the shop.  At least, I can tell them what I have done.  Thanks again!
