I have an 08 and want to know how to remove the radio.  I want to take a peak at the back of the stereo.  Ayone have or know instructions on how to?

Also, is there a way to tell if the dash speakers are working? its not obvious if they are or not.

Thanks

It's very easy to remove the oem stereo:

Here's a link to help:

As to dash speakers, if you mean the tweeters, not all models have them. What trim truck do you have and what stereo is in there right now, single or 6 disc?

There are a few differences, but the basics are the same. I think 08 got a new stereo design and the brackets me be a little different, to accommodate a change in the antenna connection. But everything in the dash, I believe, is the same and the way you remove it is the same. There is nothing in behind the basic single disc unit btw, no extra inputs or anything.

Also if you have the single disc unit now, then you don't have any tweeters in the dash. That is if you get the premium sound packages.

alright very good.  this leads me to a couple more questions. how do I access the tweeters in the dash, does the grill just pop off?

also,  do you know how to take off the ext cab door panels so I can get to those speakers?

thanks

The grill just pops up. It's 4 tabs, 2 on each side, but it's usually easier to pop up gently from the front. If you are looking for factory wiring, it most likely will not be there in your setup. You will also need adapters to mount most after market tweeters if you run your own wire. A site like crutchfield might help you with that.

To remove the KC rear door panels, as well as everything else involved in the stereo setup, refer here:

My 2008SE CC (single CD regular HU) has dash tweeters.

To test dash speakers:

while playing a musical selection, fade to front , balance to left, treble to max bass to minimun, place a piece of cardboard over the tweeter and remove. It should be very apparent if you have tweeters or not.
