without it sitting on a machine, it's hard to say where your problems stem from. One thing to try though is to get a bottle of Sea Foam.
Add some to your fuel, and then use a little through your brake booster hose. The maxima forums have the exact procedure on what to do. Off memory though it was to have some one in the truck keep the RPMs up. You pull the hose and use your thumb to plug it off so it doesn't die right away. As the other person keeps the RPMs around 1500 you slowly add some Sea Foam through the line, little pour the plug with thumb, pour again the plug. You repeat enough to get 3 or 4 oz i believe into the system then shut it off. Let it sit for 30 mins then start it up again... preferably outside away from houses. Unless you hate your neighbors, then right in front of their house. Because it's going to smoke like a bitch.
I used this on my 90 Maxima once or twice a year to clean out the upper intake. Keeps the sensors clean.
