noob here from the big island, just bought an '02 crewcab XE shortbed and am WAY jazzed about it.  hauled trash to the dump as its first work order, but then got in a killer 4x trail down to a remote beach with the dogs, wife, gear and in total comfort.  was very impressed with the low gear performance on the rubble and gnarly lava rock road.  just gotta upgrade the tires here in the next few months.  want to do other basic mods as well and hope to get some good advice here from all the veterans; things like a magnaflow exhaust, k&n intake, bfgoodrich mud terrains on black rock crawler steel wheels, lumber rack for building and kayaks, so any and all thoughts/experiences on the matters would be much mahaloed!

take care all, looking forward to many years with this truck, its exactly what i was looking for

..

pdonoho;

Welcome to the group!

Glad you hooked up. Please send a picture when you get that Frontier to the top of Mauna Loa... I just read a book about a hike up Mauna Loa in the 1840's!

I was born in a house on Diamond Head...

But that was before we had that little misunderstanding with Japan in the 1940's.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

I had to retire so I could really get busy enough to run out of time!
