It is probably the fan you are hearing. The thermally controlled fan clutch is engaging when you start the engine; it should only work when the engine is hot although mine engages if the truck is not run for 4-5 days on starting. The clutch is generally a fluid that increase rapidly in viscosity as it gets warm. This allows your fan to spin very slowly at low engine temps or when you are going down the road with lots of air flowing through the radiator. In heavy, slow traffic, the air coming through the radiator gets hptter, the clutch engages and now spins at around engine RPM to get air flowing. This will sound like a large truck engine.
I would tell the dealer you think the fan clutch is problematic and turning on whenever you run the truck.
