Hi All,
I have an 07 crewcab 4x4 with 6 spd manual. I pull a 25' camper in the
summers and recently changed my tires to 10 ply load rated BfG's to help
cut down on sway. These tires are a little heavier than the old long trails and
I notice the truck feels a little more sluggish as a result. I'd like to counter
this with an upgrade that'll get back the ~5% I've lost at the wheels. I have
read that upgrading the exhaust or installing a cold flow intake makes a lot
of noise but doesn't really up the numbers. I'd like to hear from anyone
who's chipped their truck about their product and the results. Or if you've
experienced a good result with a cold air intake I'd like to know as well.
Thanks,
Eric

Every little bit will help.  They are all louder.
There are a number of different cold air intakes, (CAI) and depending on how they are made is how loud they are.   An open filter design makes more noise and pulls air from under the hood, and are loud.  (K&N)  Others pull are from the outside but are a bit harder to install, but not as loud. (Volant)  The Volant is more expensive but it worth the money.  If they make one for your year I would recommend that one.

Another little thing that can help out is changing everything to Royal Purple oil.  Diffs, transfer case, engine oil.  This will also help on the heat build up when you are towing.

I have a Volant CAI and a Gibson cat back on my 02 SC 4x4 and did notice a difference.  Not much but it is there.  the intake for mine might be a bit louder as the super charger gets hungry for air when you step on the pedal.

Hope it helps
dup.

the most I`ve seen on a dyno is about 25-30 rear wheel HP raise in power with a catback/CAI. The one thing I`VE heard is to save your money and get a programmer the 4.0 motor from someone like hypertech, superchips bulleydog most have of the programers have a tow mode check out which ones have one. The progrmmers will work with catback/CAI and U should see most power with your bolt ons with the programmers.

Hi All,
Thanks for your input. I just put in the order for a SuperChips Cortex
Programmer and the Volant COI. Will post how it goes when everything is
in.
Thanks again,
