Ok, so back again with another tech question for the Nissan savvy

The reverse lights on my frontier do not work. They haven't worked in months. Sometimes, I get lucky, and the lights turn on for a tiny bit (maybe 1 second), then turn off. Other than that, no matter how many times I shift into reverse, it doesn't turn on. We've taken the lens off, checked the bulbs to see if they were out, checked the fuses, etc., nothing.

Before the headlights went out, my father mistakenly had large plastic box in his hand, and as he was walking near the truck, he smashed a small hole in the LEFT rear tail light. Sure enough, tape was not enough to cover it, and the tail light soon filled with water.

So I'm asking, knowing that not even new light bulbs will correct this issue, what should I do? What is the problem? Do I have to buy new wiring to replace the wiring that goes from the front of the truck to the rear?

I mean, everything else works..The night time lights work, the brake lights work...Its the reverse lights that don't.

Thank you.

Have you checked your reverse light switch? Could be sticking!

A little info helps a lot-- 2 or 4 wd -- std or auto ????If it is manual, the switch is on the right side of the trans, just find the one that turns the lights on when you unplug it and jump the wires in the harness with the key in the on position.

BTW, do you have an quick tips on how to pry these ridiculous plugs out?

Ohh, and there seems to be 2 connections...the red tip plugs into the black clip, and the black tip plugs into the other black tip...which to I disconnect? The black clip or the red one?
