I drive very few miles compared to most folks. I have a 2008 4L 4x4 and just barely cracked 16k miles...

So whats more imortant for oil changes, time between changes or miles driven? I can sit around for a pretty long time and not do 3k miles of driving.

Generaly it's miles more than time, unless you live somewhere with some inhospitable conditions... mainly dry dusty desert areas.

I'm in the same boat as you for mileage, so I only end up doing oil changes twice a year.

Go with Amsoil full synthetic, once a year or 15K miles.

Frontierguy, Do you personally use Amsoil?
I have read a lot about it and never heard anything bad but I haven't tried it
myself, I just can't bring myself to leaving oil in for a year.

Yes, changed over to it at the first oil change(3000 miles). Now at 25,000, getting ready to change for the 3rd time. Oil stays clean, change the filter every 3,000 miles(if you use the Amsoil filter, it can stay on for a year(can't bring myself to doing that). It was hard enough convincing myself to leave the oil in for a year! The best part is that when it is 10 below out, it starts like it is 60 degrees. Do a search for Amsoil, I think you will like it.

Thanks, I might have to try Amsoil out.
If I have a engine problem, is Nissan going to give me problems?

Nope, Nissan can't say a word about the oil you use... unless you do a swap from synthetic to conventional and all your gaskets take a dump.  at that point they might put up a fight.
