HI, I have an '02 Frontier 4x4 crew cab SE.  Coming home from work the other night the "set" light on the cruise control started blinking rapidly.  I couldn't get it to stop.  It doesn't happen with the lights off and when it is blinking the only thing that doesn't work is the cruise control obviously.  Has anyone seen this before, I am at a loss.  I would like to check everything I can before taking it to a shop.  Nothing else on the truck is malfunctioning and during the day the cruise works fine.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Jeremy

When it blinks, the system is in "failsafe mode". Check the ASCD brake switch, steering switch circuit, VSS, ASCD motor actuator in that order. Due to the fact it only acts up with the lites on, you may want to pull the meter assy and tighten all the screws on the back of the meter assy.

I have witnessed a stubborn cruise control light and check engine light coming on at the same time so I figured it had something to do with the MAF sensor. I tried restarting the car and it went away, and later came back on. My mechanic advised a possible problem with the ASCD brake switch and the steering wheel ASCD controls.
