I have a 2000 xe 3.3 4wd and the engine has several problems. I have 180k miles so im assuming I need to replace timing belt , exhaust manifold leak on left (right side was already replaced) rear main seal leaks and it burns a small amount of coolant. I found a guy selling a 2001 3.3 engine from a 2wd truck and was curious if it will work. I know it will "bolt in", but do I need the 2001 harness, throttle bodies, ecu etc.... or is it just as simple as installing it and all the 2000 stuff will plug in and work? I know a new engine is a little much for these minor problems, however the engine is $800 and thats what i was quoted just for the timing belt job.

The oil pan will need to be swapped. Might want to check
with your salvage yard for correct compatibility.

Im getting it from a individual not a salvage yard. I'm just not sure the 2000 harness and ecu are going to work with 2001 engine and throttle bodies.

That stuff can all be swapped. Just call a salvage yard and
ask if it is compatible, they have cross reference data
that is very helpful.
