Took the 2007 Fronty into the dealer here to have a minor issue looked at with 35,850 miles on the truck.  They said there is timing chain noise!  They wanted to repair so I said fine, its covered under the power train warranty.  Don't think so they said.  I said there was a power train warrnaty.  They replied they would call Nissan to see if they would pay part of it.  So I called the dealer where I bought it in Lancaster before I moved and they said "Of course it is covered.  We can pull up that info on a screen using your VIN #."

So who is right?  The Lancaster dealer said they would do the warranty repair but they are abou 150 miles away.  Your thoughts, please!

Thanks in advance.

Well, the local dealer just informed me that I am indeed covered by a 60,000 mile powertrain warranty and that the repair will be done at no cost!  This was when I spoke to  them at 5PM this evening.  But they were very polite and told me that they had checked further since they talked to me and agreed that my vehicle was covered.  The srevice manager for Nissan at the dealership was extremely helpful in explaining everything to me.

So in it goes in early May.  Do the replacement parts wear any better than the original parts?  I would HOPE  they are made of UHMWPE, not HDPE.

Boomer,
That sounds like a case of the local dealer po'ed because
you bought elsewhere, which is irrelevant, the repair is
covered for 5/60 regardless of where purchased or how many
owners. The new tensioner "shoes" are quite better looking
than the old. Just did a Pathfinder today, along with
transmission and rad replacement. Needless to say, I took a
little nap after supper!!!!

Thanks!  Actually, I think it was a matter of the young lady at the service desk not knowing, as once they had the manager from the Mercedes side look into it, he immediately said it was covered.  So it goes in for the repair on May 3.  And thanks for the info on the tensioner shoes.  I certainly had hoped that there was going to be an improvement and that the new ones were not the same as the old ones.
