I have a 2000 2.4L 2WD manual. The gears are engaging correctly, but once they engage there seems to be some sputtering as if it wants to stall. "Service Engine Soon" light blinked at first, now is on all the time. Not really sure even where to start

Sounds like a misfire, get it scanned for codes and go from
there.
