I took off a front wheel to plug my tire. The light flashed a while and now stays on.I tried several fixes of lowering the pressures and driving a while and then reinflating to the proper lbs.No luck. How do I check to see if the TPMS sensor is defective or if I need to purchase the tool to relearn the system? Thanks.

There may be an easier fix...

The Frontier's TPMS can be oddly finicky.
If you ask 5 ppl(even dealers) how to get it to reset itself, you'll probably get 6 or 7 different answers.
I air-down my tires fairly often when wheeling.  After I air back up... sometimes the TPMS will reset itself, other times it just seems to ignore the fact that the tires have all their air again

The absolute easiest solution is to set your tires to normal pressure and then swing by an AutoZone and ask them to clear the code for you.  It's free and easy(as long as they aren't swamped with other customers when you get there). If you or a buddy has a code-reader that will clear codes... that will do the same thing.

If the light comes back on, then you probably have an actual issue with one of your TPMS sensors.

I've also had to manually reset the evap code 2x after not putting the gas cap on tight enough as well .
This is another code that should reset itself when fixed but sometimes doesn't.
