Can a 2000 Frontier Extended Cab 2WD Automatic
2.4L(KA24DE)Engine be replaced with a 2.5L TD25 I4 Diesel
or 2.7L TD27Ti I4 Diesel engine?

Anything is possible with money.

Mainly you'll be looking at the Engine, ECU, possibly the
transmission, and I would get the fuel tank, or a new
fuel tank, and custom motor mounts, modify driveshaft.
I'd also recommend some beefier springs for the front end
to deal with the weight.

I have personally never heard or seen it done with the
frontier. It's a common thing with the suburban owners
and Isuzu's Duramax.

I think the biggest issue is getting the transmission to
bolt up to the motor. If they don't use the same
transmission you have now, then you'll need an adaptor
plate. If there isn't one available on the market
already, they usually end up being a pretty penny to get
made.

Thanks for the info. Going to have to do a little more
research on the subject. It will probably not be worth the
headache.

Not sure if you're still around, but there is a guy over on
a Xterra forum that has actually put in a 4BT cummins
diesel. I believe it's the www.newgenx.com forum.
